BUNDABERG REGIONAL COUNCIL: Nanning Chinese Gardens

About This Project

Ahead of the 20th Anniversary of the sister city partnership between Bundaberg, Queensland and Nanning, Guangxi in China, Bundaberg Regional Council embarked upon at $1.2million revamp of the gardens commemorating their friendship. Working with Chinese consultants on numerous design and engineering aspects throughout the development stages ensured authenticity and a contribution to their partnership. Several materials were also imported from Nanning to complete the transformation. Elements such as the friendship bridge, temple, hand laid herringbone and pebble pathways all exist in harmony alongside the historical railway lines that formed the backbone on which Bundaberg was built.
