GLADSTONE RC: Agnes Water Cenotaph

About This Project

Agnes Waters Cenotaph was a project commissioned by the Gladstone City Council to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of ANZAC Day and to recognise the history and contribution that the small town of Agnes Waters gave to the cause. The existing cenotaph was constructed in 1997 as a free standing memorial on the corner of Round Hill Road and Captain Cook Drive, Agnes Water featuring a small paved area and no surrounding park. A redevelopment of the surrounding area was commissioned to bring a greater focus to the memorial itself and provide a modern park area to the surrounding area.

The projects landscape significance was in the feature formal stonework; the stone was imported from Rockhampton and laid by our skilled tradespeople. BBL was the head contractor and undertook the project in a tight time frame of 4 weeks to coincide with a formal ANZAC Day ceremony on location.

 

Scope of works:

• Sub soil drainage
• Raised Planter construction consisting of block work and clad in sandstone
• Concrete Pavement , exposed aggregate
• Sandstone Crazy Paving
• Memorial Wall
• Sandstone Steps
• Custom Built Curved bench seat fixed to raised planter wall
• Install of all street and park furniture
• Install of picnic shelter
• Softscape works including turfing and planting
