Creek Restoration Works
We believe that creating sustainable environments goes hand in hand with beautiful landscapes. Boyds Bay Environmental recently undertook a sensitive creek restoration project, stabilising disturbed creek banks highly prone to bank erosion and reinstating fish habitat.
Disturbed creeks may be prone to bank erosion, leading to degraded water quality and increased sediment in the creek, which in turn may interfere with fish habitat, natural creek flow and biochemistry. Similarly vegetation may be stripped by peak flows removing fundamental habitat structure.
Large hardwood logs (woody debris) was reclaimed to stabilise the creek bank toe and to create complex snags. This introduces vital organic material into a depleted ecosystem and creates diverse fish habitat opportunities. The subsequent woody substrates promote fish feeding and breeding.
